Visit Daughter for 5 to 7 days Place to Stay Navy Base in Lakehurst, NJ

My Daughter was assigned to the Navy Base in Lakehurst, New Jersey in August 2016. My Wife and I live in Northern California and are planning a visit of 5 to 7 days this Spring. She works at the Medical Clinic and gets off work around 16:30. We would like to do things with with her without her having to take a week of Leave.

  • Is there anyplace we can on Base or we need to find a Motel/ Hotel during our stay.
  • Which Airport is the best to fly into?
  • My Daughter does not have a drivers license, so will we have a problem driving on the Base with a rental car to pick her up?

Thanks,

John

From their website:

Directions to Main Gate:

From Philadelphia International Airport: Take I-95 north to exit for Walt Whitman Bridge (toll). After the bridge, follow the signs to I-295 north. Take I-295 north to exit 34 (Marlton, 70 east) and stay on Route 70 east for approximately 40 miles. Turn left at Route 547. Bear left on 547 and proceed about quarter mile to main gate (second gate after the industrial gate).

From Newark Airport: Take New Jersey Turnpike to Garden State Parkway south. Get on Parkway South to Exit 88 (Route 70 West). Follow signs on Route 70 west to Route 547 and turn right (Gulf station on right, McDonald's on left). Bear left on 547 and proceed about quarter mile to main gate (second gate after the industrial gate).

this might be a good place to start: https://cnic.navy.mil/regions/cnrma/installations/nsa_lakehurst.html

As far as the rental car goes, as long as you have all the paper work. Rental agreement, insurance, photo ID etc...you should not have a problem picking her up. The worst case would be that she might have to meet you at the main gate without having you drive onto the base.

You may also need to check and see if your photo, state issued ID will even get you on base. Paul left you a link to Lakehurst. I can't get it to work just now, but it's probably something that needs to be looked at.

I hope you get to go on base and visit the Hindenburg memorial.
