Christmas 2008

Well, it took an extra 12 hours but we finally got Geoffrey home. The ordeal was/is a story in itself but I will let that pass for now.

We had 10 days with Geoffrey, 10 very short days. We got him to both grand parents’ houses and to his great grandma’s house.

He has grown so much. He is no longer a child but a very fine young man...

It was hard to buy Christmas gifts for him... what do you get someone who has no room to store stuff. It was limited to parts for… Continue

Time is standing still!

So here I sit, waiting for time to go by so we can get in the car, drive 10 min., park, go inside the airport, and wait, and wait, and wait. Usually the Navy's hurry, hurry, hurry, to wait. Not today. Why does time do this?

Morgan sent me a text at 10:30 this morning, his time. He said it was nice to be wearing regular clothes at that time of day. Funny, I never thought of that. Since they had their Phase III taken away, they've pretty much been in uniform. How can someone make fake… Continue

My first blog ever

November 19

Phillip,

Mom is still waiting for you to return the phone call you started after you landed at the airport. She said you mentioned some senseless gibberish and then "you forgot to put a coversheet on the TPS Reports" (whatever that means), then you said you need to call her back. You sounded very happy and excited. I sense something happened after that...like your freedom ended after that call. That was almost 2 hours ago. Knowing the NAVY doesn't like its recruits to…

My Trip to Coronado

On Saturday Oct. 25.my wife and I flew to San Diego to visit our Grandson. We drove to Coronado, checked into the Navy Lodge, and got settled. Everyone at the Lodge and on the Base were great. They greeted you as they walked by and helped if you looked like you were lost. If you get a chance to stay at the Lodge try to get Oceanside and 5th floor or above for a great view of the BUD’s Training area. Be prepared for…

Our Recruiter

Sherry and I at first were totally against Matthew joining the Navy. He came home one day and told his mom that he wasn't interested in going to college. Of course our first thought was “Well you are not going to bum off of use for the rest of your life.” Then he said, “I want to join the Navy.” Sherry first said, No way! This is not happening! Not my son! Not my family! After Sherry and I thought and prayed about it, we realized that it could the best decision that Matthew would ever make. We… Continue
