No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

Congrats to 09/088 SR's for getting thru BS21. We rcvd the "I'm a sailor" call this afetrnoon. He is exhausted, sore throat, but otherwise in pretty good spirits. He was thankful for his mates to help him get thru BC. It was great to hear his voice, as my eyes swelled up with pride. He is excited about moving forward with his training in Groton, Conn.............yup grad-n-go........PIR 16March2012........12 hour drive to GL, can't wait to give him a much deserved hug

read that as "Head" Petty Officer (Petty Officer of the Head)

The Recruit Master-At-Arms is responsible to the RCPO and RDC's for:

  1. Configuration and cleanliness of division spaces.

We got our first real letter from our SR today, Ship 4 Div 119. He is "Head Petty Officer". From his letter, it sounds like he has some authority in the ship, but he is also in charge of cleaning the head which he is not liking. I have looked at the command structure http://www.navydads.com/forum/topics/recruit-division-command

but I can not figure out where he lies in the chart. Can anyone help?

Thank you all for the encouraging comments regarding my sons pending departure for boot camp. I do have a question as I have seen comments regarding a blue light / candle. Can someone provide the reasoning behind the ritual? Thanks
