No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

My SR just phoned in this afternoon that he made it through BS21, and now just has to get through til Friday for PIR on 3/16. He sounded dawg tired, but his spirits were high. We leave for Chicago in the morning to be there for him, and he probably won't want to do much this weekend...LOL! I did get him and his lady their own hotel room, however :-) Dads, and family, just keep writing those letters. To him, he's already said in his letters, that he really appreciates the mail he's getting. It's his life line to the outside. Be vigilant. Bravo Zulu to the many graduating this Friday ~ Hoo Yah!

Family is psyched about leaving in the morning for GL......PIR is this Friday!!! We were able to have a long phone call with our son last Sunday and we were able to work out many details for the weekend. He said they are able to have their cell phones and laptops at the airport upon departure. He is glad for that so that he can skype with everyone....I'm not sure if he/we have to pay for internet service or not?? Idk......anyway it's going to be great weather (72 degrees) all weekend , can't wait to see how the 18yr old boy that left us has changed

Just found out today that my  SR is Ship 2/925.  We got his box of civilian things yesterday and contacted recruiter today to get his division and mailing address.  Nothing certain yet but PIR will probably be 05/04/2012.  Anybody else have a SR in this division?
