Medical Rehab

Hey everyone....

Prior to arriving at RTC, my son lost a lot of weight working with a trainer and doing good on diet and nutrition. Initially, his recruiter said he would definitely need the PT training prep for weight loss but was amazed at his independent progress.

When he arrived, the initial measurements were like right on the nose acceptable, but perhaps not every single one? So he started the prep course and training. After 2 weeks, he was down another 16 pounds, mostly because he said the food was awful LOL.

Anyway, in addition to PT twice a day, and eating he was bored. I guess at one point, his foot fell asleep. when he went to stand up, he tried "waking it up" by tapping it but, inadvertently banged it too hard and suffered a high ankle sprain. For the past 8 days, he didn't exercise and it it still isn't good. He gained 2-3 pounds back, and he is upset. Most of his buddies taped out and are on to boot camp. Today, they finally realized that it wasn't something small so he moved ships and divisions. At least he will finally start rehabbing it, has an ankle brace, etc.

Wondering if any other dads/parents had their recruits suffer an injury and was rehab successful? He is slotted in as a Nuke candidate. They didn't recruit him for his athleticism but he can't even out full weight on it without crutches right now. Kinda needs that for Boot Camp.

Yeah, that's a tough one. Sounds like it's going to be a "wait and see' if he heals up enough be sent back to regular training. They won't give up on him. Nukes are hard to come by. Tell him to keep the faith and walk on those crutches. It's great exercise!

    Best of luck to him!!
