Cody, I wouldn't read anything into that, the military can move at the speed of light or molasses in January. I'm sure part of it has to do with the number of days they have have to wait to fill a division.
Hey guys! I got a package from siera today. Looks like she went to the post office. She sent home god knows how many letters. There was a letter for me. She sounded up beat and happy. Sent me the lyrics to I'm already there by lone star
there are tons of PIR groups out in the world of the internet....remember though that most of your Navy education will take place after PIR and most of that after A-School.....
Got two letters from Siera today. Shes been moved up to phase 2 and hopefully phase three this week. She mentioned a program called AIT where she can go to mandatory training events so she can graduate sooner but that she won't get the pir. Can anyone give me more information on this program?
Phase 1 is recuperation. Phase 2 and 3 they begin physical therapy and start working with a division some and Phase 4 they are either working with a division or getting ready for Battle Stations if they are finishing in RCU.
We got a call from our Son Alex today! Just about the time I expected it. I was guessing he would get to call this weekend and I figured it would be in the middle of the afternoon. I was right. He is doing well. He apparently is in the running to qualify for duty with the USS Constitution giving tours, guarding and such. He thinks he might take it if offered. Thinks it might be fun and exciting. I can't see that it would be myself but everyone has their own way. It was great to hear from him. He says the letters have been very encouraging. Which echos what has been said on this site but is worth repeating.
Got a 35mins call from the girl today. She says she's in phase two now but soon she'll be phase 3. Once she's in phase 3 she can request to be put in the AIT program and go with other divisions to do mandatory training. She still has to do live fire, firefighting, gas chamber. Once he does all that she can do a medical PFA if she passes that then she'll do a real one. If she passes the real one she will piggy back with another division to do her battle stations. After completing that she'll be put in THU ( TEMPORARY HOLDING UNIT) and be given liberty from there. She won't get to PIR but she'll still graduate. She'll be n thu until she gets orders to pensacola. Could be weeks or days. No1 knows. Shes doing well and doesn't wanna give up. I offered to go get her and she said no. My girl is so strong!!!
As strong as siera is, i feel like I'm running out of strength. Even with her call and knowing she's doing well, i still am wanting her to come home. Its getting harder and harder to be away from her. I really want her to come home, but I know she won't. She loves the navy n I respect that I just really miss her
you're not going to like this Cody....in my opinion - cowboy up! If you ask her to leave and come home, the wondering of what could have been on her role in the Navy will haunt you forever......
Thanks Paul. I know I was being whiny. I'm just stressed out cause the baby is sick today and has just laid n my arms n cried non-stop today. Sorry I vented to you guys.thanks for being there for me to vent to though
Cody...I have been following the journey of you and Siera from the beginning. Let me give you the perspective of a parent. I raised my daughter for 20 years...my little girl! Basic was the most "heart-wrenching" 8 weeks of my life. My wife & I couldn't read a letter without breaking into tears. My daughter had made this decision to join the UN Navy after much thought. She felt that it was time to pay forward all of the benefits that she was given. As a parent...How could I argue with such?
Siera made her decision with herself and you in mind. She has made the commitment of her mind and body in order to benefit you both. As difficult as it is for you at home...imagine the sacrifice that she has taken on! It is your job to be the "pillar" for her to rely on. I have learned over the last 2 years that the sacrifice is not only upon the shoulders of your SR...It takes the support of the family to get them through. I can tell you that I have NEVER been prouder of my child than over the last 2 years. Looking back, I really had the easier part of the journey. Take a deep breath and be the support that Siera needs right now. She is looking to you for that...don't let her down. Things will get better, my brother! You are not alone or feeling anything that we have not all endured. That is why we are all here in the first place....This too shall pass!
Thanks Tom. I don't remember it being this hard for me when I was away during my time n the army. She's brave and strong and I'm so proud of her. I tell her that a lot. Its days like this that are hard. Rainy and nasty with the baby sick n crying the whole day. Makes me wish I had some relief. I have so much respect for her cause I don't know how she did this, plus nursing school, plus cleaning the house, plus family readiness group for my brigade. She's incredible
those that have to stay home have to be just as strong and determined as those on the lines---- knew you know that and that you are supporting Siera....just figured you might need a NavyDads slap on the back!!!!!
Sounds like you need a healthy distraction. When the baby is sleeping start looking up things to do with your wife and child in Pensacola. Research Pensacola.
I got a call from my fiancé on Friday night. She told me she had a stress fracture in her left leg and she will be an extra 6 weeks in boot. I haven't heard anything else. Can I go see her? when will she be able to call me again?
Stephen, my wife is n the same place as your fiance. What will happen is she will be given a physical evaluation. She'll be in the RCU ( RECRUIT CARE UNIT) For awhile. There are four phases for her she's in phase 1 now which is recuperating. Phase 2 and 3 are physical therapy. Once she gets to phase 3 she can request to be in the AIT program which allows her to piggy back with other divisions to complete mandatory training events. Once she hits phase 4 she will take a medical pfa and then if she passes that a real pfa then off to battle stations with a random division. Once that's completed shell go to the THU(TEMPORAY HOLD UNIT) Where she'll be given liberty until her orders come in for her to leave for a school.
