That's why we try to only post what we consider true and reliable information on NavyDads

Sadly it probably does. Tell your son to send you the names of the recruits who are not getting mail and forward them to the admin who runs the callsforrecruits.org website. He says he will forward them on to people who have agreed to write to recruits.

  • Cody Baird

Give me their name and address. I will happily write them. I'm already writing 4 sr from the rcu. I love writing sailors
  • Daniel Jaworski

Is there any special reason why mail coming OUT of RTC would be especially slow? My SR told me on the phone last Saturday that he had mailed a letter AND a form that he needed me to see but it's Thursday, nearly a week later, and the mail just came and NOTHING. This is a bit disconcerting.

  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

speed of the system.......Thursday's are the typical delivery date for stuff mailed from RTC on the weekend.  They can send Sunday, but the mail doesn't go out until Monday.

  • Cody Baird

Several sr from ship 4 RCU made the IM A SAILOR call today
  • Shaun Coates

received our letter today with our sons ship and div.....Can anyone tell me how many divisions there are per ship?

  • Cody Baird

No mail today. No calls in nearly 2 weeks. I really need to hear her voice. I'm starting to lose it today. I feel like I'm being punished by god for something. I need her to call me. I need to hear from her. Has anyone heard about anything going on in the RCU
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

hang tough Cody....you've made it this far....so has Siera....if she gets to the fleet you can go long times without comms sometimes though the Navy is working to give all the sailors WiFi access....keep focused on the prize at the end

  • Cody Baird

I know. I just am having a hard time today. I really wanna hear her voice today. Just to know how she's doing or how the healing process is coming. Is she training any yet? When does she think she'll graduate? I wanna know these things and I don't and its making me sick to my stomach. I would do literally anything for a phone call today.
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

understand bro...she must be getting close to ending phase 4 isn't she? Know awhile ago you posted she was in phased 3 so that was a great indication she was doing better and had the determination to make it!!!

  • Cody Baird

She said she had a dr appointment Wednesday but she didn't mention if she was made phase 4 or not. I wish she would call me so I knew what her situation was as of right now.
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

step outside for a minute Cody...take a deep breath and maybe say a little prayer!! It cannot hurt....we're all praying and pulling for ya!!!

  • Cody Baird

Thanks Paul. Trust me, I spend half my day praying for Siera
  • Stephen Rickard

Cody Im right there with you man. Im waiting for a message from gina too. Ill keep hoping that we will get some info soon. At least by monday if mail keeps coming in as it has in the past.

  • Cody Baird

Letters are starting to lose their meaning cause I really just wanna hear her voice
  • Todd Albala

    DIVISION 021

  • Stephen Phipps

Does anyone have a picture of Division 020?

  • Stephen Phipps

My step-son has his PIR 11/22/2013. I have sent him a card each day but when is the last day I can send him correspondence to the Great Lake address? I am not even sure how long it takes for the mail to get to him from the day I send it.

  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

The only pictures available from RTC are those posted by RTC and occasional random photos. The winners of the Trivia Tuesday contest get to request a photo-those are the ones we post after they are posted to the RTC FB page. The random photos have no caption or information so division assignments are almost impossible to make.

  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

matter of fact photo requests have become so totally ridiculous, that RTC posted this on their FB page:

As Recruit Training Command's facebook page grows, we have noticed a few trends that need to be addressed.

The purpose of this page is to connect family and friends and to provide a forum to pass official news and messages. Constant requests for pictures of individual recruits and divisions is not what we're here for. Your recruit is here to prepare and train for the Fleet, not pose for pictures. If we were to honor every request for a picture, it would certainly become a distraction to their training. Please help us by informing new fans of our page of this policy.

With that being said, Trivia Tuesday is the only guaranteed way to see your recruit posted on this facebook page. In this past, Trivia Tuesday has gone away due to responses that reflect poorly with what we are trying to accomplish on this page. Two new rules to Trivia Tuesday will start tomorrow:

    1. Edited answers will not be accepted. We are able to tell if a response has been changed and if this happens, it is no longer a valid entry.
    2. Our determination as to who is the winner of Trivia Tuesday is final.

We really do enjoy doing Trivia Tuesday, but only as long as responses remain positive and it enhances the overall message of this page. Thank you to all the family and friends for your continued support!!

I would stop sending at least 7 days before his scheduled PIR and would feel safer it it were 10 days-- no telling what kind of mail delays there might be.

  • Gary Ray

In the immortal words of Yukon Cornelius, Wahooo! Just received the I'm a sailor call from our son a little while ago! He sounded tired and his voice was worn out but he is feeling good! can't wait to see him graduate next week!

  • James A Montano

I guess we have been getting spoiled, our SR has called every weekend after P days, but no call this weekend.  Hope they were just to busy.

  • Cody Baird

Its possible he donated his clothes to charity. They give them that option

    Captain's Cup...posted today by RTC:

  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

    Captain's Cup...posted today by RTC:

  • David J.

Is there any way to tell which ships and divisions are participating in the Captain's Cup?

  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

All the divisions in a training group (TG) compete typically during week 7 of RTC. If you are asking which divisions the photos are of, they are not captioned by the Navy.

  • David J.

In that case, somewhere in that sea of yellow and blue is my SR.  Cool!  Looks like a lot of fun.  Nice way to spend a day.

  • Cody Baird

I feel like crap. Sieras whole division made calls today and I missed her call not once but twice. She called her mom though
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

Feelin' for you Cody...know how much you've been missing her!!!

  • Cody Baird

I was n the bathroom and didn't have the phone with me... hate this. She left me a message though
  • Cody Baird

I usually have it with me every second of each moment. I ran to the bathroom to vomit cause I've been sick. Shes doing well. Very well actually. Shes gonna try to take her medical pfa tomorrow and if she passes she'll go to a division on Thursday or Friday. Can anyone tell me what the medical pfa consits of
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

    Division 905

  • Cody Baird

Hey guys. When is the cut off date for battle stations? I know they stop doing it sometime in December but when and until when? Do they let the sr go home on leave or get liberty for Christmas at least?
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

am confused....BS21 occurs for each Training Group in the week prior to PIR.  Holidays mean essentially nothing at RTC...they might get the day off from training, but that is all

  • Cody Baird

I was told that bs21 did not occur during the last 3 weeks or so of December and the first few days of January. Siera says she should be n a new division soon I just worry that she'll not be in florida in time to spend Christmas with us
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

Most A-schools close up shop Christmas to New Years, but life at Great Lakes goes on...they may get the major holiday day off if they are in the final few weeks of Boot Camp and are "adopted" so they can get off base....otherwise nothing really changes.

  • Cody Baird

Thanks Paul. So that means that regardless of the date, siera should be in Pensacola before Christmas. Sweet. Do you think that they will let siera off base for Christmas since the baby and I are moving there? We'd like to have christmas eve and day together.
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

the holidays play havoc with plans Cody....each A-school handles the holidays just a little differently....she MAY get off-base for the holiday day only even though she will have not phased-up, but I'd be flexible for the first couple of weeks.....

  • Jared Hyde

Watch out for her duty day. That might be at an inconvenient time.
  • Cody Baird

I'm hoping to get a Request for Religious Accommodation memo for her so that she can go to Church with me at the local parish
  • Cody Baird

Someone just broke into my car and stole everything. They took my car keys, siera's jewelry, army memorabilia from my time on active duty... idk how I'm gonna get to Siera for graduation now!!!! This day sucks!!!
  • NavyDads Admin (Paul)

bro...you're just having terrible luck!!!!!  First rule- don't keep that stuff in a car!!!!

  • Cody Baird

    Siera called today. Happy
