Daughter Enterning Navy Tomorrow

Hi

Tomorrow morning I will be bringing my daughter to the recruiter office for shipping out to boot camp. I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on what I should do as a single parent for her the last night with me.

"A" School is over- Now Reality

Well - I have not posted anything since PIR on 11-9-12. Now "A" school "Logistics" is over and our son John just spent the last two weeks at home with us. It was very good to have him home. But now the Hard Part.   He left today to go to his first assignment aboard the USS Rushmore that is based in San Diego. The Rushmore is currently deployed in the Persian Gulf area and I think he will go meet up with it. I can't put in words how hard it was to say goodbye this time. Bootcamp and "A"…

Hi Jay

Sorry so long to respond.Daniel graduated on 2/1. He had 6 days leave.  He is on his way to Okinawa. That was his choice - he loves scuba diving so he is very excited. Glad to hear Amber loves Spain. I heard it is very nice.

ASVAB score

Hello everyone and thank you for making me feel welcome.  My son, Cory, has not yet joined the Navy.  He will be taking the ASVAB either tomorrow or sometime next week.  He is going for Master of Arms.  Does anyone have any advise for us before he takes the ASVAB.  He doesn't test well (even in school) and the first test he took he scored a 45.  He was told that he needs to score at least a 50 to enlist in the Navy.

A School Graduate

Got a call from my son Greg today to say that he had passed his last exam in A School and went through Grad ceremonies today. He is now waiting on his Fleet orders as we all hope he is placed in San Diego based on a medical request for his mom.
I am so proud of his commitment to serve and his drive as he has made his own way to finish RTC and A School. I am truly in awe of my son.
God bless you Skippy, and God bless and keep all of our sailors and soldiers!

69 Naval commanders fired since 2010

Recently there have been a number of submarine commanders fired while their boats have been refitted at the Portsmouth NH Naval Ship yard.  That apparently has prompted the attached article which suggests that times have changed for Navy COs.  Being a naval commander was never an easy job but according to this article in today's world it has gotten even harder.  Any thought about this?   …
