Received a message today from one of our own asking for prayer. One soldier and one interpreter killed in an IED explosion. 4 seriously injured. Please keep these men and their families in your prayers. Thanks.

I want to send a prayer request for my daughter Arishenay Cooper; as well as all her fellow shipmates. Keep God with you & stay prayed up.

Brad,

Our our deepest sympathy for the loss of your father go out to you and your family. I lost my dad back in 2009 and there's not a day that goes by that I don't miss him...

God Bless and Take Care,

Gary

Brad, sorry for the loss of your Dad.  I was visiting the USNA yesterday with my son.  Although we've been there many times, this was the first time taking an official tour.  I had read your post earlier and thought of it as I snapped this picture in the chapel, a gift from USNA '69.  May God bless and protect your children as they serve.

Brad, I know the pain of losing a father. But your sorrow will eventually be replaced with the great memories of him and the consolation of knowing he is where we all eventually want to be! God bless you and keep you doing these tough times!

My dad made his "final flight home" today to be with the Lord.  Pic was just uploaded.  Was a 2nd Lt. in the USAF and got to fly the first fighter jets, the F80 shooting star.  Both grandchildren AWR2 Rescue Swimmer Garrett Krygier and 2nd Lt. Marine Valerie Gibson will miss him too!

What is it like to be at Operation Heal Our Patriots marriage retreat? "It's the closest thing to being a part of a miracle," says David Vernaza, Petty Officer, 1st Class, US Navy. Jenny Lewis, wife of Staff Sergeant Jim Lewis, US Army, finds that "we can take the skills that we've learned here and take them home with us."

Jerri, I found this:

Ship Staff is in charge on PIR day. They greet and welcome the Officers and their distinguished guests as Sideboys, they play the role of "Body Snatcher" walking up and down the rows of Sailors, watching for and sometimes catching any Sailor about to or going down. (They lock their knees sometimes and pass out). They help the Navy Corpsmen in the back room, they Guard doors and perform a myriad of tasks behind the scenes and in front. It is their job to help make sure all goes smoothly. The Honor Guard Drill Team (they're the ones with the yellow ascots) also does a rifle performance at the beginning of the ceremony.
