No More "Sailor in a Box" - From RTC- Posted 5 Sept 2019

Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

We talk about Holiday Routine at Boot Camp - here's the skinny

Sunday/Holiday Routine allows recruits to attend religious services and observe Federal holidays. From 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. recruits are able to: attend religious services, read and study, hygiene, perform uniform upkeep, write and read letters, or clean their rack and personal locker.

Important RTC/PIR Changes

RTC is making important changes to polices regarding PIR Guest Access as well as Bag Checks and Restriction Policies. Take the time to read thru these and be prepared when you head to Great Lakes for PIR.

My wife is in 948 and I still haven't received her address letter with her pir date. I know all the info for it by now though. I just need the password so I can print off the gate passes

From the Unexpected file: As I said before, we got the kid box last Friday the 13th. Yesterday we got the letter with his address and graduation date. Pretty quick based on what I have seen on these posts.

Luke...Keep an eye on the PIR Graduation Dates link on the right side of this screen....It will tell you how many divisions and allowed guests for your PIR date!

I am seeing comments on N4M that TG 51 (PIR 11/1) has 13 divisions so will only be allowed 3 guests. Some have said their SRs told them as much when they called Saturday. This is scuttlebutt, but if it makes a difference to you, you may want to wait for confirmation. (Additional guests can watch the live stream in the chapel.)

I know we all miss our loved ones, but how about a moment of silence and prayer for the senseless loss of life in Washington.

Song lyrics. My daughter LIVES for her music. I started sending lyrics on letter 2 or 3 (I write 3-4 a week) and the second letter we got was "KEEP SENDING MUSIC!!!!!" LOL, we had to laugh.I opened her iTunes and started looking at recently played and also looked on her phone. I'm saving the last song she listened to on her phone before she sent it back for the last letter to her. 11 and a wake up! Hoo Yah!

Often times the recruiters get misinformation. An SR can change divisions at the last moment. Best to wait for the letter from your SR.
