Brian, you've got that right.  I never know when my daughter may run out of gas on some rainy night and need assistance :)

Evan,

I am not going down, my daughter is also coming up. I just wanted to commend you on such a generous offer. It's nice to see that there are people out there willing to help others and not looking to gain. I wish you the best and am sure it will come back to you 10 fold...good KARMA

Hey, we have changed our Thanksgiving plans and our Sailor is now flying home, instead of us going to Goose Creek.  We have a 3 bedroom villa at Foster Creek that is paid for, and since it is a holiday rental it is non-refundable.  If you know of a family travelling to see their sailor at nuke school and things are tight they are welcome to use it for free.  If you are going and flush with cash, but just forgot to reserve something we can work something out.  Just message me on the forum and I can give you my phone number.

Awesome!  I know how proud I was to get my dolphins and how proud I am to wear them today.  Are you a member of the United States Submarine Veterans Association  We have a very big base here in Goose Creek and we have lots of activities we do all month long.  In fact I am going to Kings Bay for the WWII reunion with 400-500 of my best friends.

My son (submariner) just qualified throttleman and plans to finish his boat quals soon.  I hope to be there when he gets his fish.  (I'm an ex-bubblehead -- same rating as my son.)  Color me proud.

Luke

I am a retired Navy Nuc living in Goose Creek.  I attend many functions at the command.  I know that the first three weeks they are in Indoctrination phase where their under lots of restrictions.  He is not supposed to ride in a vehicle or go off base.  You will probably be able to visit him but it will be a restricted activity.  I am sure you have seen the threads on here about the problems some students have in following the rules and regulations required of the Nuclear Power School.  The first three weeks are the most critical for them.  That is where they learn the rules and regulations.  I personally would not bring a laptop to him until he is done with Indoc.  I did not say it is prohibited but I would want my son or daughter to concentrate on getting oriented and settled in during Indoc with no distractions.  I hope this helps.

He should have liberty but he'll have to be in uniform til he phases up. I believe their liberty is until midnight, so you can spend time with him then drop him off before the clock strikes twelve! This could have changed, my nuke is in the fleet now so wait for more current info!
