My son's dep journey is almost over. He signed up last spring and is now 14 days away from leaving for GL. Man how the time has flown. Last minute jitters are setting in for him mom and myself while our sailer is as cool as a cucumber.

Hi Paul... It has been my pleasure to help in any way I can. I know I have been a little quiet the last couple of months or so,but with baseball and work,I was stretched a little thin on time.So goes life! You take care and I'll be in or around for a long time!

good day to all of you DEP parents out there..my name is Steve and i have been a member of Navy Dads for the last7 months. The reason i have joined your group is that i have a question for all of you.
A while back i came across an offer from Paul, the Navy Dads admin. for a program to print out some Navy Dads business cards.I received the program from Paul, but decided to do the idea on a bit bigger scale.I had 1000 of the cards printed up and ended up with 2000 cards instead. Now my reasoning was that by passing out the cards i could help E.G. to promote Navy Dads...Well 2000 cards is more than i can handle.I was wondering if any of you parents were interested i would send you as few or as many cards as you would like to pass out to other DEP parents or maybe even at PIR when you go to G.L.
If any of you are interested you can e-mail me at ksbaker@compprime.com with your mailing address and i will send you the cards...no strings ....no charge.. just to help out Navy Dads as much as they have helped me thru the last 7 months..Thank You for your time..
Steve !!!!!!!!!!!

Hello! My recruit is scheduled to leave on March 3, 2010. He has requested to go in earlier and his recruiter said it was a possibility. Any one else have a similar experience? God Bless all our Sailors!

First let me say that I'm a Navy Mom and very active over at the Navy for Moms site. It has just come to my attention that you Dads have a group too, how great! My husband will be happy to hear that! I hope I'm not out of line here, but I just wanted to let you know that a group of us navy parents living in southern middle tennessee have formed a "live" support group. We felt the online community was fantastic, but does seem to lack the one on one support and comraderie we are sometimes needing. We purposely made it a parents group as we felt there were may Dads out there that were not getting the support (and bragging time..LOL) that we felt they deserved. If any of you live in our area or the northeast area of Alabama we would love to have you join us. You can get more information by visiting our website http://navyparents.webs.com Hope to see some of you there.

My son checked in with his recuriter yesterday and was asked if he had any changes in his life, and of course Eric had none. The issue is....the recuriter told him that over the holiday weekend, 3 deppers had gotten tats and piercings, well they are no longer deppers now. Recuriter said that they had broken their contract and were specifically told not to get anymore tats or piercings while in DEP. Now they have been kicked out of DEP and have no future in the Navy.
So Deppers, please keep you same "status" that you had when you signed your contract at MEPS. Do everything that you are told to do. It all comes down to....If you can't follow rules while in DEP, will you be able to follow rules when you become a Sailor.

I am always looking for new ideas for my DEP pool. Its very inportant to us Recruiters to keep every one motivated and it helps to have parents like you that support us, thank you.
