LCDR Marks (USS Abraham Lincoln) posted a great reminder for those with sailors at sea.  From my experience those periods can be a lot longer than just 24 hours....keep the failth, your sailors will contact you when they can!!  This is what Commander Marks posted:

"Just a friendly reminder to all our friends and family ... there may be periods of 24 hours (or more) where we don't have email or internet due to limits on satellite coverage, operational security restrictions, or other special cases. This is normal and you can always call your ombudsman for more info. (hint: this would be a great time to get your care packages ready! :)"

  • I agree! With the USS GW the time periods are longer than 24 hours also..and getting those Care packages ready is a good idea! The holidays are coming fast and if you want your sailor to get their gifts and treats on time I suggst getting them out soon. Remember flat rate priority packages are the best and least expensive, however for those deployed or stationed overeas it can take up to 5 weeks to get them. My packages usually take at least 3 weeks to get to my Sailor.
