In about 2 weeks I'll be auditioning for the Navy bands, an illustrious group of musicians that represent the best of the Navy. I hope to get the opportunity to serve under this group. I'm currently assigned a job as AECF, but my degrees (bachelors and masters) are in music.
I'll be traveling to Great Lakes, Illinois for the audition. Currently preparing all my scales, two prepared pieces on flute and piccolo and the piccolo solo from Star and Stripes. I'll update on the status of my preparation and results of the audition.
On another note, I recently made the difficult decision of resigning from my teaching duties nd band and choir director at the public school I work at. The kids and parents took it hard, but are starting to accept that I am joining the Navy to better support my family, serve my country and also do what I love most. I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me in this time of transition.
Happy father's day to everyone today and I hope that yours is as enjoyable as mine will be. This is my first and I'm proud to say that my little girl has grown so much in the four months we have been lucky enough to have her. To many more happy years.
