Hi All - my #1 son Chris has been in basic training (pre-PIR I guess is how the Navy terms it??) for 3 weeks now, and I have had 2 calls from him. first one he missed me and left a message that i could barely make out due to a really bad connection, and today I heard from him again, but the connection was worse than before. The 1969 moon landing transmissions were more clear. I could not hear him. His transmission was broken and totally unintelligible due to a bad connection. Is this normal? If so, why?

One of the phone calls from my son this summer (he's is A-School now) was really horrible. I believe that there is a bad phone, and no-one has fixed it. In your next snail-mail letter, I'd advise him to try a different phone.
Thanks Jim! I was hoping to see if anyone has had this experience, or if the string is just too long from Illinois to NW Montana!
