So after watching my daughter graduate about a week ago I've decided to try and join the reserves. I have a 10 year old step son otherwise I'd consider enlisting full time. But I wanted some advice. I have a bachelors degree in psychology and wanted to join as an officer. Is that possible? Also I'd love to be able to offer counseling to navy families going through the tough transition of deployment and returning from deployment. Does anyone know anything about this? Eventually once I complete graduate school is like to consider going active duty. Is that possible since I'll be over the age limit? But I would hopefully already be an officer in the reserves. I know it's a lot of questions.  But this is something I really want to do and am curious if thats even possible. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone!

  • Tom,

I believe the age limit for joining the Navy Reserves is 39 and the active duty number is 34? not 100% sure on the active duty number. I would contact a recruiter to see possible opportunities. We have a group on here "Ask a Recruiter", I would also post this question in that group as well.
