Drop on Request Questions

The boy called me last week to say that he had DOR'd from RSS.  While it was an aweful moment, he is taking it like a man and looking forward to a new opportunity.

The problem is, no one has told him anything about where he will be going. So here is the question: Is there an open jobs list, and how does he get to see it?  Is there someone he should be reporting to that can offer some type of career counseling?

Can someone help?

Also, he's talking about going into the fleet as undesignated airman, waiting some amount of time and trying for RSS again.  Is this a realistic goal?

  • Grampa - thanks for the note.

Are there any chiefs on this site that could share some info?  This is day 3 with no orders, no guidance, and no feedback.  He did not fail anything at all in the schools he attended.

  • The way I understand it he should meet with a detailer, I think that is what they are called, and he will explain what the available Rates are. As I understand it most or overmaned and the list will not be very long. I could be mistaken but that is what I have heard. I will see what I can find out on undesignated.
