Finally got a letter from boot camp

It was awesome to hear from my son as we never got the form letter from the USN. He said that upon arrival at approx. 2100 he was looking forward to some sleep but that was not to be. First night they kept them up until 2100 the next night. He said that they broke him and that I was right that mentally, he wasn't ready for boot camp. He thanked me for his "privileged childhood", which in and of itself is a monumental step forwards to adulthood. He had previously bellyached about all that he had to give up in his childhood. He closed by telling me that it is getting better but it's still the hardest thing that he has ever done but he will complete it and come home as my son, a sailor, and a man.

  • Got our first phone call last night out of the blue. Very surprized to say the least. He said that he took some test and may pick up his E2 while in boot. He is the Religious PO for his compartment.

  • as they get recruits from all over the country they are kept up for about 36 hours to reset all their internal clocks to RTC time....
