Well, that was much faster than I was expecting! It's exactly 7 days since he got there and I got the form letter just a few minutes ago. He must be in a push div. because he will be there exactly 8 weeks.
Gosh, this makes it very exciting! Now I can make reservations tomorrow. Got several letters to mail out tomorrow.
BTW, there are 4 names on the list so that means everyone will be able to have 4 guests.

Robert,
They are allowed to have 4 guests attend this graduation ceremony. That is all they will allow for each recruit. Anyone not on the list will have to leave the base.
As soon as you get their form letter they are allowed to receive letters. As a rule they are only allowed to write letters on Sundays.
I had already written 5 letters myself and sent them out as soon as I got his form letter.
Are you and your family going to Sarge's Meet and Greet the night before graduation?
Blake,
My son will also be graduating Jan 23rd. He's in Div 911. Maybe we'll run across each other, I noticed he also had four guests listed. I took it to mean that is how many we can have. We bought tickets for his sister to be there, She's an HM2 in San Diego. Do you know if they are getting mail yet or able to send anything out? We have sent quite a few letters.
Robert
Paul, I like your answer better.
There are occasions when a division may fill and a few unplaced recruits remain. Those "leftover" recruits will be placed as the first recruits for the following division. There are also times that a division is not quite filled with the normal 88 recruits and that division must wait for the next group arriving in Great Lakes to fill to division compliment. When a division is held waiting to fill the division with the next group of arriving recruits, they will placed in what is called a PUSH Division.
Because that division formed "late" it is composed of recruits arriving typically over two different weeks. Some of the recruits in that division will be at RTC for 7 1/2 weeks (8 Fridays) rather than the typical 8 1/2 weeks (9 Fridays) that most of the divisions in that TG (Training Group). To stay current with the projected PIR date for the TG, that division is "pushed" thru some accelerated training- hence the term PUSH division.
This may happen more often for those recruits arriving at the beginning of a week. Recruits who are unlucky enough to be held over may be placed in a TG for the following week. These recruits are at RTC 9 1/2 weeks (10 Fridays). That happens more frequently for recruits arriving at the end of the week. This happens more around holidays or when there is a week without a PIR. Weather or severe storms may result in extra recruits being shipped to RTC when others are delayed. This may also occur if a large number of recruits are shipped to RTC in the summer and early fall due to enlistments that happen during a high school student's senior year.
Jay, a push division is when a division get pushed through faster than normal. Usually around holidays and such. Could be for a number of reason.
I read a story from a kid over on NavyDep.com that he was in a push group because his top RDC was moving on to a new duty station soon and he wanted to get it done ASAP.
Thanks for the nice thoughts Jay, same to you.
sheesh...that is quick. Push division? Haven't heard that term before. My son got there 4 days after yours, wonder if he'll be that lucky. Congrats Blake. May your son experience smooth sailing through boot.
