Graduating Navy Boot Camp May 21

My son recently entered boot.  We received a letter or two now, and he is due to graduate May 21st.

He is in (on) th Arizona.  Funny, when I was in boot (70's) we just had company numbers....different today, which I guess is good.

Anyway, I have such mixed emotions.  Pride, disbelief, and all that goes with a son entering the military.

Guess the worst is that I just plain miss him, surely exacerbated by not being able to talk with him.

This is a great site....even if only for venting.....Thanks guys!

  • My son just graduated April 16, 2010. He is on a plane headed for Pensacola as I write this. Cherish the phone calls and letters you get, because they are keeping him very busy. The graduation ceremony is awesome. Wait until you see him in uniform! I think that in today's world where emails and communication techniques can be done in an instant, parents are shocked to learn that the recruits have no access to this. One email a week would alleviate alot of stress, but it won't be allowed anytime soon. They are very strict, maybe too much so? Good luck!
  • That's what we're here for Michael! Be sure to spend time in the PIR group going through old posts to get a idea of what to expect when you go to Great Lakes for PIR.
