  • Keep in mind, a 10 PM curfew should mean 9PM. They'll have to walk back to their ship, and there's a long line to sign back in.

If you plan to stay for the weekend, the next morning, get a weekend pass to drive on base. You'll still need your sailor to show an ID, but at least they won't have to make the walk back.

  • I'm copying and pasting this from a facebook post, but the lady who wrote it has a son in the Navy and seems knowledgable about all things Navy, and from what I've read this seems accurate: so...

    PIR Weekend:

~My Sailor is flying out for A School ~  If your Sailor is flying out for A School, you will be able to see them on the floor immediately after graduation.  You will be given about a half hour for pictures, hugs, etc.  Your Sailor will then be going back to their Ships to pack.  You will be able to wait for them at the NEX for about an hour.  When they come back to meet you at the NEX, you will be able to then leave base and head back to your hotel, out to eat, to the mall or whatever your plans are.  Your recruit will have the afternoon and evening with you, but will have an evening curfew. They will know the time - somewhere between 6PM and 10PM.  The Sailors will start to be bussed between midnight and go until about 6:30 AM Saturday and Sunday morning.  Please meet them at the airport - they'll know if they are flying out of Midway or O'Hare - and you may sit with them until they leave. Recently, Sailors have been flying out on Sundays as well, so please ask your Sailor when it gets closer to graduation. This has become unpredictable! You may  now give your Sailor their electronics.

~ My Sailor is staying at Great Lakes for A School~ If your Sailor is staying at Great Lakes for A School, you will be able to see them on the floor immediately after graduation.  You will be given about a half hour for pictures, hugs, etc.  Your Sailor will then be going back to their Ships to pack and move to thier A School barrack on the TSC side. This will take between 4-5 hours. You will head back to your hotel after graduation and your Sailor will call you when they are ready to be picked up. You may spend the evening with them and they will have a curfew. They will know the time they need to be back - somewhere between 6PM and 10PM.  This is when you may give your Sailors their electronics. You will also have liberty time with your Sailor Saturday and Sunday!  You may pick them up as early as 6AM both days on the weekend (they will inform you) and will have curfew to be back in the evenings.

  • they have to be back on base that evening....think you need to target being at the gate by 8:00PM as I recall.....your sailor will have all the details!
