you can start now and mail when you get the address....to help keep in order, I know folks have numbered their letters 1..2..3..etc by their return address so they can be read in sequence....
you should get the letter about the same time as the box. We USED to advise calling the recruiter, but there has been a shift in privacy issues and many will not release that info.
My Daughter shipped last Wednesday. We got her "kid in a box" by FedEx on Monday. Her recruiter had her address on Monday afternoon. Don't wait for the form letter. Call his recruiter.
Hi John, plan on about 2-3 weeks before you get the form letter with his address information. They'll be busy right up front getting settled. Write anyway and mail them when you have it. Good luck to your son, my daughter PIR'd in August and is now stationed in Japan.
