I understand that we must be patient but since it is only a few days till Christmas, it would be nice to have his address in bootcamp so he can get a card or letter to open that day. The recruiters appear to be avoiding us. I'm sure they are very busy and any other time of the year it wouldn't be quite as urgent, but full phone mailboxes and unreturned messages is driving me a little crazy. Also, when they finally do answer their messages, how cranky will they be? Can they make life harder in bootcamp if a recruits parents are pitas?

  • Thanks Paul! Our son's recruiter finally returned a phone call this afternoon to say that he would have it in the morning. As long as the RTC will accept a Fedex envelope, I will still have time to get a card and letter to him for Christmas. It just irks me that other parents of recruits who left the same day had their addresses Thursday and Friday.

This site is very informative and for me, comforting. Thank you all for your help!
  • Pam,
It took a week and a half to confirm my daughters ship and division from the recruiter, There was some delay in the data because of how many showed up and the info being put in the computer for detailers to see. Another member of this site "KastIron" has been a great source of info because he was an RDC a few years ago posted the PAO info on another post in the Boot Camp site. I have copied the PAO info below, it is their job to help and is an official source that can help you with the Ship and div #'s. (some Privacy Act info may apply)

You could try contacting the Public Affairs Office at:
    Phone - 847-688-2405
    Email - rtc.pao@navy.mil
  • Wow, we forget about that kind of weather out here in the desert! I can't even imagine dealing with that kind of snow. I feel for ya!

Wouldn't it be more efficient if the Navy had a website we could log into and get the information without having to bother some really busy personnel?

Thanks for your help tonight. I'm gonna go have a glass of wine and thank my lucky stars I live in AZ.

The recruiters are pretty much out of the picture now...their job is done. They are on to the next recruit.

Erica is extremely helpful and I am sure, if she she can, she will help you. Send her a message tonight. I have seen her on here at all different times. She won't have access to anything until Monday, assuming she can get in, due to the snow here on the east coast. We are totally shut down all up and down the mid-atlantic region. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

  • Yep, I thought of that too. I will do that just as soon as I obtain the address. Thank you so much! I feel better now! I've heard the the local recruiters keep tabs on their recriuts while in bootcamp. You don't think they will take it out on the boy if I made a pest of myself on their cell phones?

I just had a thought. Once you get the address, it is a street address and you may be able to send a card overnight express.

  • Pam, keep in mind that even if you put a letter in the mail on Monday, he may not get it in time for Christmas. I understand it takes up to 5 days to reach them. :( Maybe, just maybe, they will get a phone call home.
  • Thank you Mark! I will do that.

Pam, contact Chief Erica Grubb on here. She may be able to help you or direct you to your recruiting district's facebook page. That is how I first contacted her and then asked her to join this site so she could help others.
