job rating at meps

My son had to drop his weight from 201 to below 186 to qualify to enlist. After alot of running and dieting he is now at 183.

So he will be going to meps on dec. 8th.

My question is..Is an aviation electrician(AE) a highly sought after job by new recruits?

Just wondering if it will be a long wait before starting boot camp.

  • My daughter went to MEPS in October and left for BC on 12/14.  She is also going to be an AE/AT.  She was in very much the same boat as your son.  She had to lose a lot more than 15 pounds, however.  She dedicated herself and lost over 60 pounds and went from a size 16 to a size 4.  It was like watching the Biggest Loser on TV!  Now she's complaining that she's been at BC for 2 weeks and hasn't been allowed to workout at all (screwed up paperwork in the division caused extra P-Days).  Go figure, first we couldn't get her to even walk now she complains that she can't work out!  I couldn't believe what I was seeing at home I don't know what to expect at PIR!  The physical change was striking, if they can do the same for her emotional state I probably won't recognize her.  She is a college grad and has it all mapped out in her mind about when to try for OCS.
