What a whirlwind. Our only child/daughter just reached out for her "safe and sound" call from Great Lakes. I'm optimistically excited, yet quietly heart broken that my "daddy's girl" is beginning her life on her her own terms. My wife and I began as high school sweethearts and got married a year after our daughter was born immediately after school. In short, we don't know what its like to be married without our daughter. This is so surreal and difficult to sort out with this much change seemingly overnight. We'll succeed for sure, but not without effort. I'm proud, damn proud!
One cool thing is that I was able to do a live stream from my smartphone of my daughter swearing in. A bunch of family who couldn't make it watched live, excluding the 14 that showed up for her. Technology is great! Something to consider for others. The link is below if you care to see the quality, it's not bad.

Todd, it was exactly one year ago this week our sailor left CA for Great Lakes. Those first days and weeks were rough. It's amazing the transition we and our sailors go through over those months. When you get to PIR you'll be beyond proud. Best wishes to you and your soon to be sailor.
Thanks for the update Todd!
