Life on a frigate

My sailor just received his first assignment out of RTC. He will be on a frigate based in San Diego. Does anyone have a son or daughter who is or has been assigned to a frigate? It's a pretty small vessel compared to most Navy ships and, like sub duty, it looks like it could get a little claustrophobic on long voyages.

  • I was stationed aboad USS. McClusky (FFG 41) when I went to the fleet as a RMSN. Frigates are small ships with a crew of 159 or so. Very tight knit. Very robust experience for me.
  • Is your sailor on the FFG 51?
