I'm thinking of putting together a shadowbox for my son to hang in my office while he's on active duty, updating it as he advances in rank or is awarded ribbons, warfare badges, etc. I think it would make a terrific gift for him when he leaves the Navy, whether he's in for five years or twenty five.
If anyone has experience at this I would be very interested in hearing ideas and suggestions.

there are a bunch of Navy folks that do that kind of stuff: check https://www.facebook.com/NavyChiefWoodworkingAndCrafts
spend some time rooting around some of those sites and in Google.....I'll see what I can find as well when I get a chance
Thank you for the links, Paul. After looking at some of their projects I think I'll pay to have one made. Those folks are way above my league.
