Medical Review Board

Hi
My 17 yr. old son is trying to get in to the Navy. All the paperwork is done, just graduated High school, good ASVAB score, no police contact... His only issue is that in Oct. 09 he went on a 6 hour 102 degree DEP workout with some Marines and got dehydrated. He had to spend the night in the hospital because his kidneys shut down due to lack of water ( he had none in the 6 hrs he was there). He was discharged the next day and cleared by his doctor and a kidney Doctor about a week later. His recruiter said his paperwork is at "Med View" this has been since April. Is there anyway to talk to someone at the Medical Review Board?

Frustrated...

  • I understand these reviews and waivers are done at NPC (Navy Personnel Command) in Millington, TN.
Did you ask the recruiter if there is an appeals process for this decision?
  • I don't know if will help but I agree write the Chief. My daughter had a medical problem and there was an appeal process to attempt and get cleared or a waiver. I would ask the recruiter and or the Chief about this. My daughter was successful and today entered Boot Camp. Good Luck!!
