  • Hi Jim, I'm John L. and my son is in week 7 at rtc you sould be getting a letter with his address and info this week. I sent my son Ryan a phone card in my first letter to him. and in week 4 I got a call from him. It was so cool to here from him....

  • Hello Richard, yes thats all you will get until a few days, then you will get a letter from your son, my son is in his 3rd week of booth camp. I am waiting for his frist call now, I am so proud of all our young men and young ladies, please join me in keeping them in daily thoughts and prayers.

  • I got the box of clothes and his phone today,  he wasnt kidding

  • form letter is seperate.....

  • Got the box in the mail today...it was saddening...Was the box supposed to include an address and grad date? It did not, all it had was his clothes....

  • My daughter shipped yesterday and we sat around on pins and needles waiting for that phone call.  Finally came in around 9pm and our girl sounded a little shell-shocked.  Can't wait to get her address, as a Soldier I understand the value of mail and have been writing letters already.  Anybody have any idea on restrictions to mail.  Can Navy recruits keep pictures that come in mail call?

  • Daughter got letter yesterday...Patrick is in Div 297 and PIR is 9/9/11

  • The call is typically no more than about 20 seconds long...very short and scripted...if there are ANY issues with phone service or connections the call won't go though and you may get another...stress MAY as most of the time you will not.  If there was an issue you'll be notified...no news is good news right now so keep the faith that all is good!!

  • Jim,

I did not get the "I am there and ok" call...I have a friend whose son left last week and they said it was about 48 hours after arrival that they got the call...I work from home and have kept the home phone by my side since he left...If I have not gotten a phone call, should I still expect one? I did send him off with self addressed stamped envelopes and a calling card like I had been reading to do....

  • My grandson left on the 13th. He was prepared, his mother...not so much. We await the company/ship/PIR information so the support letters can begin. As a Navy veteran, I can't stress enough the importance of writing your recruit...nothing lifts the heart more than hearing your name during mail call. Bless your children for their service.
