Navy Lodge

If you are planning on attending your son/daughter's PIR, you can stay at the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes. This is the ONLY NL to allow families to stay without the service member present. A normal rate for a room with 2 queen beds, microwave and fridge is $65/night with no tax.

  • The folks at the Navy Lodge recommended taking a taxi, if you don't want to drive yourself.
  • We will be staying with friends in the Chicago area, my wife and I were wondering about the shuttle to base so we can avoid driving and the long lines.
  • Awesome Mark.. thanks! Will have to look into that here very shortly, as on the navy.mil web site it looks like 6 divisions are graduating that day.. so it might fill up soon. I wonder how many rooms there are?
  • Thanks KS! You can use the NEX?

...and it's a 10 minute drive to PIR, morning breakfast and coffee is included, and WI-FI for your computer for a few dollars per week. The NEX store is two blocks North and you can get basics for your stay and trip home including discounted fuel. (with a card from the lodge) Needless to say the security-safety is great, it's in the middle of the base housing on the base itself. Stayed there in August and can recommend without hesitation.
