officially aboard!

I joined this site back in september(2010).

My son had to drop his weight to enlist (down from 201 to 177 now). I am already surprised and proud of his commitment to succeed.

He went to meps monday and qualified well. He will go to bootcamp on 4/19/2011. Then to pensacola for A-school to train for "IT".

Now that he is in I hope to get to know some of you guys. I have mostly been lurking in the distance waiting for this day.

Its kinda strange to think that we try and protect our kids all their life, and then one day we realize that they are mature enough to join the greatest military in the world to protect us.

Thank you to the moderators and members of this site.

  • Tell him to join the "Y".  That is what my daughter did and left for BC on 12/14 in the best shape of her life!  She's upset now because they haven't started the PT at BC yet and all she wants to do is workout!

By the way,  she was able to work a deal at the local Y and only paid like $12 a month.  Have him talk to them about what is going on and they will probably give him a deal, too.

  • Unfortunately RWG this is true that the dep program can no longer help the recruits with any kind of PT. My youngest son was telling us of this a couple months back. A recruit did pass out and get injured while on an outing. My son does however by chance go to the local running track and happens to run into his recruiter there while running around the track. Now this is in no way setup but they do run into each other while runningat the 4 mile track.
