My son goes to MEPS April 1, 2010 and has a lot of options.

His original idea was to pick a rating that was fairly simple and concentrate on his degree online.

After looking into the Navy, he is not sure what he wants.

Are there any web sites or advise you can give us to help him with his decision?

Go this web site http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjob1/a/navyjobs.htm and the ratings are listed by communities or groupings. Keep in mind that not everything is open. My son's rating of Avaition Electricians Mate. is currently overmanned Navy wide, which makes advancement more difficult. Also your duties may vary from command to command.

remember that the ratings he qualifies for will be a function of his ASVAB score as well as open billets....there are way more recruits than jobs right now so there is a lot of "needs of the Navy" going on.....
