Well after much research and advise on this forum I reserved some tickets to see my son's PIR on 9/4/2015. We're excited to see our son graduate and watch him start his life as a Sailor. When I graduated in 1987, in San Diego, my mother rode a Greyhound bus from Dallas to San Diego, which took 3 days each way; wish I had her dedication.
With advise, we are flying into Milwaukee the day before PIR and looking for hotels that will ease our transition from Milwaukee and having to catch a flight on Saturday at 0530 back to Dallas. Navy Lodge is full and was full weeks ago when I tried to reserve a room. Any suggestions for ease to base and getting to Milwaukee. Some have said Ramada but still reviewing.

I reserved a room at the great lakes inn/hotel. it is a mile away from the base it looks like
I am flying in Thursday as well. and staying at the Springhill Suites in Waukegon. It is across the street from Sarge's Meet and Greet and like Jim said is not far from the base.
