  • I just found this group even though I have looked for many weeks.  Joined the PIR group on FB for info.  if you are interested, i have uploaded a pdf with congrats to our recruits, feel free to use.  SR is div 409 and glad she has excelled and ready to graduate.  She was the Stbd watch RPO and will now graduate with promotion to E3.

  • Could be worse...........could be snowing.......  :-)

  • Hope to meet the few of you that have joined this group. I'll be with my family at Sarges meet and greet and I'll be the dad with the little girl running around in a blue M&M costume.

Hope to see you all there!

  • I printed mine out today.  Did you go to www.bootcamp.navy.mil?  If so, at the top, go to families, upcoming graduations and then scroll to the bottom and click on the link that says gate pass next to the 11/1 graduation line.......good luck!

  • Has anybody been able to print the gate pass for the 11/01 PIR?? The link on the website hasn't been updated to allow access to print it...

  • Good question... I assumed it was for rifle like when I went in (and no wise cracks about them being muskets! :oP)  and we all know what happens when we ASSUME! Anyway, I will ask her next call. And correction- it the Marksman ribbion. I will clarify which (pistol or rifle) next call.

Sammy...is that a pistol qualification?  As far as I know they only qualify at RTC with the Beretta M9 and the Mossburg 12-gauge unless something has recently changed.

  • Oh, one more thing... for anyone that is reading this, do your kid a favor BEFORE they go to boot camp- make sure they can swim. Julia's unit lost 10 sailors who got set back for a week because they could not pass the swim test. You just have to be able to tread water for 10 minutes- it's not that hard. And you can do whatever you want- dead man float, swim back and fourth, bob up and down, etc... just tread water for 10 minutes. So save your kid disappointment and frustration and make sure they can do this before they go- Julia said everybody was pulling for them but they just couldn't do it...

  • Heard from Julia today- nice long chat for almost an hour. They are on the downward slope now- just practicing for graduation and a couple more classes and they are done. She is amazed boot camp was not as hard as everyone told her- everyone except me. I told her to have fun and to remember one thing "it's mind over matter... if you don't mind, it don't matter". That little mantra got me through my 22 years of submarine service! Anyway, she is looking forward to graduation and onto Florida for "A" School. You know, after serving 22 years, been through 2 wars, and achieved many things I am very proud of- but none of them can match how proud I am of her.... awesome...

  • Hi Hiram,

I know when my sons is (415) so I'm pretty sure your recruit will be the next night.  We can't discuss this in an open forum but I sent you a friend request with what I know.

  • Has anybody with a recruit in div 417 heard about battle stations? I presume they are doing them this week, I'm getting a little anxious to get his phone call....
