PIR date?

I know its early but with my job restrictions the earlier the better for me to ask of for the PIR date, Our sailor left for boot camp today, will it be 8 weeks counting this week or when can I expect to find out the PIR date?

    I hear you on the waiting seems forever, my other son joined the navy 2 years ago and it seemed like forever to get a letter!!!!  I was in the Navy myself 27 years ago!!!!! and we started that night also..... it was Jan 2 1985 and we though we were going to die it was so cold...texas boys aren't used to that!!!!

    My son left May 24th and he just got assigned to a division at the end of last week.
    His PIR is July 20th.

    They spend the first five days in processing, medical / dental checks, ect... These days do NOT count.

    This is much different from the Air Force, or 27 years ago. We started that night.

    I got his clothes last week, Monday and today I got his letter with the PIR date, and mailing info. It seemed like a year went by in the past two weeks waiting for a letter.
