Hello Everyone
Well our "form letter" came in the mail today with the information about when the PIR is for our son. Finally gave my wife something so that she will now hopefully stop worrying about what is going on. She has been talking with some of the Navy Moms on their site and one of them told her that we may want to stay away from parts of the Waukegan areas. Does anyone here have any information about which of the hotels on the brouchure are in areas to stay away from, if any? Thanks

We also stayed at the Residence Inn Waukegan, I used some Marriott points for the stay. It was perfect having a "living room" where our new sailor could get online, call friends, watch a little tv, and just relax. Highly recommend it.
All,
My family and I just got back from my son's PIR that was on December 30th and we stayed at the Residence Inn (Marriott) in Waukegan and LOVED it there. We had a two bedroom suite with a living room/kitchen and two separate bedrooms with bathrooms. The Residence Inn was about a seven minute drive (very easy) to the Naval Base. We paid a little over $145.00 dollars a night for the entire suite and they provided us with a full buffet breakfast every morning. If we had to do it all again, we'd go to the same place again.

I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard for both of my PIRs....I was impressed with the hospitality. May be a little more costly than some, but highly recommended....suggest the shuttle to the base for PIR...reasonable and skips the traffic mess though you do have to walk to the hall from the gate (guessing quarter of a mile)
A lot of folks stay at the Navy Lodge. The one in GL is the only one that allows family to stay without the service person being with them, due to graduations.
