Months after my son's PIR, some advice about a place to stay: Unless you can book a room at the Navy Lodge on base, which needs to be done months in advance, book a hotel near the Metra train line, which stops right at the base gates. Taxis are expensive and vans not all that reliable. Even with a car, traffic is intense, so driving there is not recommended. On that note, enjoy, and congratulations to all your sons and daughters!
