Reclassification and Captain's Mast

Recently my son had to go to Mast and was declassified as well as other punishment.  I was just wondering how long he would have to wait to be reclassified or who he could talk to to see what his options are.  He was made a BM but he would like to try to get into CTN.  He was a CTT and still kept his top secret clearance.

  • Glenn, how long was his UA?  minutes, hours, days, weeks?

What was the reason for the UA?

Depending on the information, usually they will send him out to the fleet under the PACT program. Yea, you said he is a BM, which is basically PACT.  But I bet when they see he's has a TS clearance, they will place him into the OS rating.   He will not get CTN, that's for sure.  CTN is overmanned, and it is an extremely hard school. Not going to even one hour of school will set you back.  With a UA, the Navy will not take that risk.  They would not put a person that just went to Capt'n Mast in that rating.

You are somewhat correct about not pulling his security clearance, however, they will pull his security access.  He will be limited only to non SCI jobs.  CTT, CTR, CTI, CTN, IS, MT, and a whole bunch more he will not be eligible for.  Thus why he would be an OS (I think).

  • Thanks Paul, Just posted on his page.

  • I would ask Craig at: http://www.navydads.com/profile/CraigM as he is a CT expert.  With mast and declassification I doubt he would qualify for CTN
