Biography

 

David Zimmerman is presently a Navy Corpsman (HM) serving as an Optician Technician at the Health Clinic at Atsugi Naval Air Facility in Japan.  Upon completion of his BS in Public Administration from Indiana University (IUPUI) in Indianapolis, David enlisted in the Navy spring of 2008.  
 
Upon completion of the Navy's Hospital Corpsman "A" School training program at Great Lakes, David was admitted to the Navy's NOSTRA program in Norfolk, Va, which is an intensive six-month course of instruction certifying him as an Optician Technician.    He is presently studying to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).   
 
 Last year David was pictured conducting an eye examinination on a local news video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w9jf_xHdFA).  Attached is a photo of David examining the eyes of a sailor while visitng on board the USS Essex while docked in Japan last month.
 
David's hometown is Valparaiso, IN with two very proud parents and a younger brother who is a senior at Purdue University.  He enjoys traveling, biking and is an avid Indianapolis Colts and Chicago White Sox fan!

Your dad is rightfully proud and has provided many of us a platform with which we can discuss and connect with other parents with children in Japan. I must say I am not surprised to hear of all your success over there in Japan! Your father, Mark speaks highly and brags about you all the time in the Japan group that he himself started for us on Navydads! It has become my favorite group!! I can tell how bright you are and you have a quick mind for success! Combine those attributes with your relentless work ethic and committment to quality patient care , and it is obvious you have a wide-open future ahead of you! I know that your experience with working in the navy has contributed in some small way to your success.
