Searching for World War 2 veteran

Dont know if this is the appropriate place to post, but here goes.

 

Can someone tell me  the better ways to start a search for a United States Naval Seabee

who served in the Atlantic World War 2, building a hospital in Warwick, Bermuda in 1943.

I have no other information of him, but have 2 pictures, and believe his name was Richard Smith.

try the Modern Military Branch of the National Archives.  They maintain the deck logs for Naval personnel from 1939 thru 1976.  Navy Personnel Command (Millington, TN) has current records from '76 to present.
