My son just started basic. On the day he left MEPS for basic, just prior to leaving, an error was noted in his contract. It was discovered that despite his expressed lack of interest in Force Marine Fleet, the Career Counselor put him in for it and he is slotted to attend the training after A school (hospital corpsman). He was told they could not change the contract at that point, as it was discovered at the last minute, just prior to him leaving for basic. I told my son I would try to get some answers about a possible remedy at this point. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Needs of the Navy will always prevail......but it never hurts to ask !!!
It may not be that easy, if the Navy is in need of FMF corpsman right now then thats where your son is going. It all depends on the needs of the Navy at any given time.
absolutely.....when given the chance to discuss with the counselor he needs to take advantage of that and be professional in his discussion
