SHIP 06 DIV 901 PIR 11/20/09

My daughter will be graduating 11/20/09. She will be an MA. I have had the privilage of experiancing her blossom into a young lady and a Sailor. Her letters have exposed a progression of growth and self awareness. I chuckle and tear-up, at the same time, when she talks with me as only a person who has gone through bootcamp can talk. But I find comfort looking through the eyes of a father and a Leader of Men and Women that she gets it. I mailed this to my daughter today: http://www.navydads.com/group/bootcamp/forum/topics/a-must-read-for-all-new-navy

  • Hey, Jim,
The weekend was great. It felt good to bring her home a few hours each day. The change was astounding, but one I expected and look forward to. She was only 17 when she shipped off to BC. She matured alot. It was great. She called from TX yesterday, and was all settled in.

PIR was fantastic!!! We had a great time with Emerson. He's now in "A" school in Great Lakes and settling in nicely. Sounds like a lot less stressful than boot camp. We just sent him his cell phone.

  • Cool. My wife is on NavyMoms and some of them are going over to the FULL MOON. I eat there often so I can tell that the food is good. I will tell my wife about the Ramada and we will stop by. looking forward to meeting you and yours. will post full moons # when I get a chance.
  • We'll be at the same PIR on Friday. Our son (Emerson) will be carrying the Kansas state flag. We too have noticed how they change from young men and women to Sailors. Congrats to you and your daughter.

Also, we're staying at the Ramada and I think they're planning a gathering for the families (Thursday night). I'll have to ask the wife for specifics if you're interested in joining us.
