  • Great to here that your son is following in his grandfathers footsteps.  My father served for 30 years in the Navy and retired as a Master Chief many years ago, I am sure he would be excited to see my son serving now.  I hate that he had to get his teeth pulled and i can only imagine what that is like as my son had his pulled when he was younger and I am aware of what that was like!  Good news on the home front, we have received a few letters, but we were excited to receive our first phone call last night from him.  He is doing well in boot camp and absolutely loves it, although he did say it was much harder than what he expected going in.  He passed all of his test as well as his first fitness test.  Much more to come, hopefully everything continues in a positive path for all the recruits.

  • Yes, my son Ario started same day, Ship 11 Div 105.  Sacramento CA here.  We got a 6 page letter from him last Friday (Feb 24th).  He had just had all 4 widsom teeth pulled and had some recoup time.  First time I've ever had to communicate with him by letter.  He is experiencing plenty of doubt and discomfort, homesickness etc., the pain of growing up!  Sending him lots of encouragement and support, as is his grandfather who marched accross Europe into Germany under Patton - grandpa is pretty proud as Ario is the only one in the family in two generations to join the service.

  • Hi Eddie - Mine began on Feb 7th. Ship 2 Div 921. I am also looking forward and I might say very anxious to  know more info as we progress.
