SHIP 11 DIV 318

Looking for other parents with recruits in this group to share info and support.  Our SR left home on August 2nd and is just about to enter week four.  Have not received any letters yet besides the short three lines of the form letter.

  • Hi Miguel!

We are flying into O'hare as well, and there is a shuttle service that is listed in the Navy Brochure:

Airport Express - 1-800-284-3826 or www.airportexpress.com  (use the discount code MWR)

Also according to the pamphlet, the following hotels have free shuttles to the PIR ceremony:

Red Carpet Inn - North Chicago

    Quality Inn - Waukegan

    Comfort Inn - Waukegan

America's Best Value Inn - Waukegan

    Ramada Inn - Waukegan

    Motel 6 - Waukegan

    Super 8 - Waukegan

    Courtyard by Marriott - Waukegan

    Hope that helps!

    Kevin

  • What hotel would be best? im dont have a vehicle and I'm going to fly to O'Hare and i dont know which offers shuttle services and its close to either airport or Recruit training command.Plz comment. My girlfriend PIR is in Div 318.

  • Yes i have a love one in div 318. She called yesterday...I was working and i couldnt answer : ( i know they are able to send letters cause other people in division could but i still havent received one.

  • Congrats Kevin. I know how nerve racking it can be not hearing from your child. I got my first letter from my son last week and a call just today. He is going on his 4th week soon and is a little home sick but says things are good. Just a lot of beatings but he loves the challenge :) He seems to be enjoying himself so that's a plus. He said they are allowed to call every two weeks but he was so busy the last time they were able to call home. Good luck to your family and your daughter.

  • Got our second phone call this afternoon, what a relief!  SR Young reports that she is doing well and missed her chance to send mail last week because she was on watch.  She reports that they are allowed time to write and send mail on Sunday's only, so we should see her first real letters this week.

I've noticed many posts here that mention recruits calling home after Battlestations 21, and the parents had only JUST received their first letters from the recruits a few days prior. So for all of you loved ones fretting over the lack of mail, keep the faith.  Our recruits are being well cared for and are undergoing a transformation that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

Thanks to all the admin and others here on navydads who welcomed me and offered support when I signed up.  This is a great resource and community.
