My son flew out on 2/10, we received his box on 2/13 and the form letter today. Excited to receive something and now looking forward to receiving a letter or a phone call from him.

We got the "I'm a Sailor" call earlier today. Flying out tomorrow and planning to attend Sarge's meet-n-greet tomorrow night.
It's been fun keeping up with everyone and what's going on at BC in real time mode using the FB group and this website. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
I'm very proud of my son and all of the new Sailors in Friday's PIR!!
We usually get 1 or 2 letters a week. He's staying positive, working through 1 day at a time, and staying focused on getting through BC. Sounds like they may be having a few challenges.
Sarge will also have a get together the night before PIR and go over the best way to handle things. We attended the one for my daughter and it was a big help. If you search for "Sarge" you should find the page to RSVP on.
There were around 70 or so people that attended the one we went to.
suggest you consider the Metra train into the city...be aware he has to stay within a 50-mile radius from the base and will have to return to base in the evening. He will have details at PIR.

We are flying out tomorrow and sure hope we get the "I'm a Sailor" call. We got it the Wed before graduation from my daughter too.
Best of luck to you and hope you make it to Sarge's. It is worth the time.
We will be the people from Avondale, AZ.
Curious if you have heard from your son since the letter in late February. We have only received one letter and one call.
I am chalking it up to his Mom being more homesick for him than he is.
By this time for my daughter, we had gotten 6-8 letters and a handful of calls. Could be due to her being at bootcamp through the holidays, though.
check the lower right area of any NavyDads page and you'll see Sarge's events listed

Sounds like we need to book a hotel with a hot tub...lol. He also wants to go eat in Chicago. Anybody have suggestions that worked well?
We got a phone call as well this past weekend. My son was in good spirits and all was going as expected.
We just went through this whole ordeal earlier this year. My daughter did PIR on the 17th of Jan.
