The PIR was, to put it lightly, awesome. The band and choir were par excellance; I quite frankly have never heard such small groups of individuals perform so passionately.
My son, now a U.S. Navy sailor, still has his sense of humor, kindness, and humility, while gaining a sense of confidence and, frankly, a cockiness that to me is a sum of his training, discipline and gratitute to the U.S Navy. And that's not a bad thing. After training, his friend T. and T.'s mom joined us for Chicago style pizza, which they chowed down like no tomorrow, and talked about boot camp and the future. My son later called me and said he's preparing his notes and dress for the next morning. I thought "I'd never hear him say that" and at the same time, he said "You never thought I say that" which made me burst out laughing.
Our young sons and daughters are becoming men and women right in front of our eyes, and it is a spendid thing. I can't begin to explain to anyone else how this feels, but I'm sure you all know. Thanks for being there for me, for each other, and for the U.S. Navy. HOOYAH!!
