USS Abe Lincoln TC

Can someone tell me if there is a place I can get info on the TC? My son is on the USS Abe Lincoln and I would like to find out all details of the TC coming up.  I need cost, where we board, etc.  I love my son but sometimes he doesn't get all the facts straight and I really want to try and make this trip with my other son to see our Sailor but I need full details!  Thanks!

  • Not surprised, but keep the faith!  You can read through my blogs (at this link : http://www.navydads.com/profiles/blogs/quick-tiger-blog ) to understand how my cruise went and what we did at Mayport....note you can go to the next blog in the series by clicking the Next button at the bottom right of each blog post....

  • My son said he was informed the Tiger Cruise for the USS Abe Lincoln was "highly unlikely" to happen this year.  ??????

  • Does any one know how to set up an escort once you arrive at Mayport for the Tiger Cruise?
  • Actually, your sailor should have the information at this point.  My son is on the Abe Lincoln also and he emailed me the other night with some information from his Squadron Leader that had some specific dates in it (due dates of forms and things like that) but there were no specific dates for the actual TC.  From the email he forwarded me, there are a couple of sign-offs that are needed before they make it official but they are sending the forms out now (sent them out last week around the middle of the week from what I can tell).  I know that you will need to get any other specifics from your sailor to keep with OPSEC rules.  I know I am harassing my son as much as I can because if I don't, I won't be able to afford the trip there because it would be such short notice.  Also, there are quite a few things that have to be filled out and sent in beforehand and those are only available through your sailor.  One other thing is that if your sailor is a female, she will have to get someone to sponsor your son and if your sailor is a male, he will have to get someone to sponsor you...only he or she can do that also.  Hope this information helps!!!

  • Thank you!  For some reason I thought the cost would be $200 so $75 sounds much better!

  • If I recall correctly, the Abe is about half way through cruise so there may not be any tiger cruise info yet.  It is covered by OPSEC guidelines so your sailor is about the only source of tiger cruise info- and he cannot communicate dates by e-mail as a result.  Keep after him....cost is minimal....about $75 to cover food.  Naturally transportation and lodging come out of your wallet....

be sure to read through posts in the Tiger Cruise Group for some background....also check the Stennis group as they recently had a cruise
