USS New York crew members man the rails and present honors while passing The World Trade Center and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum

NEW YORK (Sept. 8, 2011) Crew members aboard the amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) man the rails and present honors while passing The World Trade Center and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, Sept. 8, as the ship arrives in Manhattan. The crew of New York will participate in numerous events throughout the city honoring the victims and responders from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. On board are family members of victims and first responders from 9/11, along with the crew and Marines from 3rd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, based in Camp Lejeune, N.C. The ship was built with 7.5 tons of steel recovered from Ground Zero. The ship is scheduled to be pier side in Manhattan Sept. 8-9 and will anchor in the Hudson River Sept. 10-12.
