My daughter is an HM1, currently in San Antonio now working through C-school for Respiratory Tech. She is expected to graduate in April 2013. To my most recent knowledge, she hasn't received orders for her next duty station yet. Is this normal? I thought she would at least have an idea as to where she may be going by now.
I know her deployments are unknown and unpredictable, I'm just hoping she'll get shore duty for a while after being in school so long!
Anyone else have a loved one go through this Respiratory Tech program? Where did they end up and when did they get the orders?
Thank you!

Hello, I don't have anyone that’s gone through the Respiratory Tech C school. But I think I can safely say that sailors usually receive their orders for their new duty station the week before they’re due to graduate. This was my experience and is the same for my son who’s currently in EO A school. My wife and I went to visit him last weekend and asked some of the PO’s in charge of the school about when he would get his orders. They said it would be the week before. The way it most commonly works is the students will be shown the duty stations with openings. They’ll make their selection from the list according to their class rank. This is why it’s so important to get the best GPA in your school. Hope this helps.
Michael, Our daughter is also HM1 and and graduated C school ( X-Ray Tech) from San Antonio eight days ago. She picked her next duty station about a month before graduation but did not receive her written orders until four days before graduation. She still has seven months of hands on training at this base before she picks her next long term duty station. I have learned from her to be patient. I hope this helps. Thank your daughter for her service. GO NAVY!!!
