This is new to me. What, if anything is different about a "sponsored" division? Is this a good thing or not? Will there be more requirements for a sponsored division? My recruit seemed to think this is a rare thing in bootcamp. Thanks for any insight! P.

  • Justamom...Sponsor Division is just as Paul stated and it is rare thing. Sponsorship can range from other military commands (ships, subs, etc) or civilian organizations as well. We have had the Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox's, St. Loius Cardinals, Dale Earnhart, VFW's, Navy Mom's, etc. as sponsor divisions. There is no extra requirements on the recruits, in fact it is an honor. Usually during certian events throughout Bootcamp team members will be engaged with the recruits, i.e.: PFA, Battle Stations Capping and usuallly recieve a sponsor tshirt. Hopefully this answers your questions and best of luck to your recruit.
  • A Ship or command can sponsor a bootcamp division. The Ship or command can come watch the bootcamp division do different events. ie battlestations, pizza night, PIR, etc..
